Members only – New (draft) Constitution for review
New (draft) Constitution for review
You may be aware that the Constitution, which was last reviewed in 2020 has undergone a further review in late 2022, with a view to releasing this for comment to the membership.
The review was undertaken by the National Executive Committee, supported by DAC Beachcroft LLP to ensure that the Constitution:
- provides the framework for the Association and its membership to comply with their legal obligations;
- gives the basis for robust governance of the Association and incorporates best practice where appropriate;
- reflects the aims and objectives of the Association;
- provides clarity on key issues including categories of membership, tenure and election of National Executive Committee members and officers, and the nature and frequency of meetings whilst future proofing the ability of the Association to grow and make strategic decisions.
While the current Constitution remains in place and continues to govern the Association, it is necessary and appropriate to ask the membership for their feedback on the proposed changes. This would normally be in the way of a tracked comparison document for ease of reference; however this will not be possible due to the extensive changes that have taken place both in relation to the format and content of the Constitution.
For the reasons outlined, the proposed revised Constitution has been made available within the members area (log in required) along with the current version for your review.
